Without warning, a pensioner in France is said to have shot an 11-year-old girl on the neighboring property. According to information, he was aiming for the whole family, probably for renovation work. Now the prosecutor’s office is investigating a murder.
The 70-year-old Dutchman has been charged with murder and attempted murder, prosecutor Camille Miansoni said in Brest on Monday.
Sister managed to escape
According to initial investigations, the man in the small town of Plonévez-du-Faou “suddenly pulled out a gun” on Saturday night and shot the British family in their garden, Miansoni said. The eleven-year-old girl was killed and her parents were seriously injured. The eight-year-old sister managed to escape.
At the time of their arrest, the 70-year-old suspect and his 69-year-old wife tested “positive for alcohol and cannabis”. Two guns and dried cannabis plants were also found in her home, prosecutors said.
Felt “disturbed”
According to the authorities, there had been a fight between the neighbors for years. The British family moved to the city in 2019 and began remodeling their property, leaving the pensioner and his wife feeling “disturbed in their peace”.
