In Ecuador, a woman who was wrongly declared dead has actually died. She showed signs of life again during the vigil and then went to intensive care (see video above). There she died after seven days.
The Ministry of Health in Quito confirmed this via Twitter. The woman was taken to a hospital in the city of Babahoyo on June 9 with suspected stroke. A doctor pronounced her dead because she did not respond to CPR attempts. During the vigil, when relatives were just about to move the alleged corpse into the coffin for burial, the 76-year-old gave signs of life and breathing again. This is reported by the newspaper “El Universo”, which referred to the family.

The woman was then taken to intensive care. There she received extensive medical care and was regularly examined, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. Despite the efforts, the 76-year-old actually passed away. The government had said it would investigate the matter to find out how the woman was accidentally pronounced dead in hospital and then nearly buried.
