A fatal bicycle accident in the Salzkammergut (Upper Austria) went unnoticed for an hour and a half. An elderly athlete had fallen off his mountain bike when holidaymakers found him, the emergency doctor was only able to determine death.
The 75-year-old neighborhood cyclist was on his mountain bike – not an e-bike – on Monday around 3 p.m. in the municipality of Ebensee. The athlete was well equipped for the trip and wore a bicycle helmet. From the Fortstrasse Fahrnau he turned in the “Heissl-Karl Single Trial”. After driving about 70 meters, he fell for an unknown reason.
He is believed to have suffered fatal injuries. Around 4.30 pm, two German tourists found the cyclist who died in an accident. The Alpine Police assumes an accident, third party fault is excluded. It is also possible that the cyclist had an acute health problem that led to the accident.
