Almost Pride Attack – Danube Island Festival: Police see no danger at the moment

Date:

After a possible planned attack on Vienna’s Pride Parade was thwarted on Sunday, safety is “the top priority” for organizers of the Danube Island Festival, which kicks off Friday. Thanks to the comprehensive security concept, the police see no danger of a new possible attack.

The headquarters of the Vienna State Police referred to the experience they had with major events such as the Danube Island Festival. Due to the general global security situation at major events, there is also an abstract increased security risk here, but according to the current status, there is no concrete danger. Some 800 police officers are employed every day and two provisional police stations are also being established.

Extensive security measures worked out
300 security guards are tasked with making sure things run smoothly, and 250 rescue and emergency paramedics and seven emergency room doctors are also on hand. Awareness organizations should also provide a sense of security, whereby contact persons can be recognized by the sticker “I am your lifeline”.

For the first time there is also a festival pastorate, which can be found in a tent or in mobile teams of two. The information and advice center checkit! in turn provides information about recreational drug use and the associated effects, side effects and risks, and therefore focuses primarily on prevention.

Incidentally, in a recent Krone survey, which asked whether people still feel safe at major events, the result was quite clear: 72 percent of readers answered ‘no’, while 28 percent said yes without hesitation. event.
