LPG leak – 31 killed in restaurant gas explosion in China

A gas explosion in Yinchuan, northwestern China’s Yinchuan district, killed 31 people and injured seven others, including one seriously, on Thursday. According to initial findings, the explosion was caused by a leak in a liquefied gas pipeline

Two other people suffered severe burns, while two others suffered minor injuries and two were scratched by flying glass.

Images from the state broadcaster CCTV showed more than a dozen firefighters working at the scene of the accident and smoke coming out of a hole in the facade. Broken glass and other debris were scattered across the street, which also houses other restaurants and eateries.

The blast occurred at around 8:40 p.m. local time at Fuyang Grill Restaurant, located in a residential area in central Yinchuan. The accident happened on the eve of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival, when many Chinese go out and meet friends.
