Heat wave in China: – The temperature in Beijing has been above 40 degrees for days

Date:

Northern China is currently suffering from extreme heat. After persistent temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, the highest heat warning level was declared for Beijing and nearby provinces. In Shandong province, ground temperatures rose above 70 degrees Celsius. Experts see the unusually high temperatures as a result of climate change.

In northern China, the thermometer passed 40 degrees for the third day in a row. For this reason, the highest heat warning level was declared in the capital Beijing and parts of nearby Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Inner Mongolia and Tianjin provinces.

Soil temperature of 70 degrees
On Saturday, state media reported that ground temperatures were above 70 degrees in parts of Shandong province, China’s second most populous province after Guangdong and an important area for grain farming.

Just a short fade
“Last year’s heat wave provides an indication of the risks to China’s food supply and the potential impact on prices,” Capital Economics said in a comment.

The heat wave in northern China is expected to ease on Monday and strengthen again later in the week.
