Andy Warhol’s portrait of Marilyn Monroe sells for $195 million

Christie’s in New York, organizer of the auction, has closed the sale of the work ‘Shot Sage Blue Marilyn’ at $195,040,000. The buyer is the American art dealer Larry Gagosian.

The buyer is the American art dealer Larry Gagosian

The auction took place at Christie’s in New York.

The final price was just under the $200 million that Christie’s had attributed to the work since announcing the painting’s sale a few weeks ago.
