The Basque government is allocating another 6 million euros to extend the 50% discount on public transport until the end of the year.
On Tuesday, the Board of Directors approved the extension of the credit for a value of 6 million euros, charged to the treasury remnants, to extend support to public transport companies until the second half of 2023.
For example, users of public transport in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa can benefit from a 50% discount until the end of the year.
This amount comes on top of the €12 million allocated by the Basque Government’s Department of Spatial Planning, Housing and Transport to help public transport companies absorb the costs of the 10% drop in income due to the bonuses.
The discounts were activated on September 1 last year to compensate for the increase in prices while promoting sustainable mobility through the use of public transport.
