On Thursday around 2.45 p.m., a kite surfer (65) from the Vöcklabruck district collided with the motorboat of a 78-year-old from the Gmunden district on Lake Traunsee. Two trauma surgeons were taking a sailing course when the accident happened. They immediately rushed to help the injured 65-year-old. Emergency services arrived just eight minutes later.
The accident happened on the Traunsee in the Trauneck area in the municipality of Ebensee. The two parties involved noticed that their paths crossed near the water, but could not avoid it in time. There was a collision.
The 65-year-old fell off his sports equipment and injured himself. Lucky for him, two trauma surgeons were just doing a sailing course nearby. They immediately came to the aid of the injured athlete and alerted the rescue team.
Taken out of the water
The water rescue service Ebensee eventually brought the seriously injured man ashore with a lifeboat. There he was handed over to the emergency medical team that was already waiting and flown by helicopter to the clinic in Vöcklabruck.
