Four couples were out on the Praterstrasse in Vienna on Monday evening. After six youths approached the women, the situation escalated and the strangers attacked the four men with a knife and a screwdriver.
This couples night came to a bad end. After the four assigned women were approached by six youths, the men made it clear that the women were theirs. The young people didn’t like that at all. Suddenly, the gang attacked the men with punches and pointed objects, a knife and a screwdriver.
The perpetrators fled
When one of the women alerted the police, the attackers fled. The armed forces were able to provisionally arrest two suspects, an 18-year-old Afghan citizen and a 16-year-old Austrian citizen.
A screwdriver was seized during the search. Three male companions (aged 38, 43 and 44) received emergency medical care at the scene from the Viennese professional rescue service and were subsequently treated in a hospital. The 44-year-old was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The 16-year-old was released on bail. The 18-year-old was transferred to a prison. The investigation is ongoing.
