Since Monday morning, measurements have been taken in the settlement of Ansfelden (Upper Austria), where a gas explosion took place on Tuesday evening. The gas no longer poses a threat: all residents were allowed to return to their homes. Only the house destroyed by the explosion is still locked.
“The houses are regularly run away,” the mayor of Ansfelden, Christian Partoll (FPÖ), reported to the “Krone”. According to the ongoing measurements, five of the still closed buildings were released early Monday morning and three other single-family homes were opened shortly before noon. In the early afternoon (almost) all residents were finally allowed to return to their homes.
Well injured
Only the building in which the gas explosion took place on Tuesday evening is still closed. “It is so badly damaged that it is no longer habitable,” says Partoll.
There is still good news from the stricken building. The homeowner was injured in the explosion. Mayor Partoll can report about him: “According to his daughter, the injured man is doing well!”
Evacuation after gas explosion
As reported, 15 houses in Ansfelden were recently blocked. You are in the immediate vicinity of the house that caught fire after the gas explosion. Gas had escaped during deep drilling, leading to the explosion and subsequently the evacuation of a large settlement at Freindorf in Ansfelden.
The approximately 60 residents who were not allowed to go home at the weekend stayed with friends and family. The community nursing home also served as an emergency shelter. However, the last of the temporary residents moved there on Saturday.
