Money, wigs, weapons – that was the palace of the Wagnerian warlord Prigozchin

Date:

During the failed coup attempt against the Russian military leadership, Russian special forces also searched the villa of Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin. Russian media have now published photos of the operation – providing insight into the bizarre luxury life of Putin’s former confidant.

Several Russian state and private media outlets on Wednesday evening published footage purportedly taken by law enforcement agencies of a large luxurious home with a helipad in the yard.

Photo with “severed heads”
According to the photos, the investigators found bundles of dollars and rubles worth millions, gold bars, numerous weapons, as well as several passports with different names and a box full of wigs. They also encountered a stuffed alligator.

The St. Petersburg-based website Fontanka also reported that a photo of “severed heads” was found in Prigozhin’s house. In the past, Prigozhin’s fighters have been repeatedly accused of corresponding – illegal – violations of international law.

Sledgehammer for “important negotiations”
Fontanka also published a photo showing a large sledgehammer. The metal head bears the words “For Important Negotiation”. The sledgehammer is one of the symbols of the Wagner group – they had repeatedly stated that they would use this weapon to execute or torture enemies.

The footage also gave a glimpse of the war leader’s fancy contraptions, including a personal helicopter, a large indoor swimming pool and even his own infirmary.

Ridiculous disguises
Especially the many different wigs in different styles and colors – from gray to mouse brown – look very bizarre in the photos. The state-backed Telegram channels also published photos of the warlord allegedly wearing the wigs as part of various disguises.

The quality of some panels is but so ridiculous, leading to speculation that they may have been forged – evidentlyto further discredit the Wagner boss.

Prigozhin not in exile, after all?
At the end of June, 62-year-old Prigozhin committed a failed armed mutiny against the Russian military leadership. The military activist renounced the coup attempt and was exiled to Belarus under an agreement with the Kremlin that protects him from criminal prosecution. As Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko announced on Thursday, Prigozhin is said to be currently in Russia.
