On the run from police, a driver crashed into a Munich tram stop, fatally injuring an 18-year-old pedestrian.
Two other people were injured at the bus stop on Sunday morning. The 21-year-old from Sinsheim in Baden-Württemberg had previously ignored a red traffic light at an intersection and had collided with a car as a result. The three occupants of the car sustained minor injuries.
Thrown to a halt
A civilian police patrol found a traffic violation by the 21-year-old during the night. The officers then wanted to check the man around 12.30 p.m. When an officer wanted to go to the car, according to the police, the driver accelerated his small car and drove away. At the intersection, the man first collided with a family’s car and then threw himself against the bus stop.
There he captured an 18-year-old who died on the spot. The 21-year-old was also injured and taken to hospital. The man must be brought before the examining magistrate by Monday. He had no driver’s license and was said to have been drunk.
