Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Ukrainian soldiers have made up for material shortages with great ingenuity. They weld together new war equipment from captured Russian technology, work with milling machines and 3D printers – often with strange results. The most recent example is an improvised drone anti-aircraft “minigun” made from six Ak-74 assault rifles bolted together.
In online videos, the soldiers show how the new unconventional weapon in the Kiev arsenal was designed: milled mounts for six assault rifles were welded to a metal pipe. At the front of the muzzles, a metal plate with matching holes keeps the barrels of the six AK-74 parallel. All six triggers are pressed simultaneously via a lever and the system is mounted on a tripod. But how effective are such solutions?
