A young woman’s foot got stuck between two granite stones of a groyne in the Danube in Klosterneuburg (Lower Austria) on Tuesday morning. Because she could not get out of her plight, the fire brigade turned out.
A swimmer was in an awkward position near the river baths in Kritzendorf, where the incident also took place. The woman’s foot got stuck between two granite stones. She could no longer free herself with her own hand. Eyewitnesses were aware and alerted the emergency services.
A firefighter attached to a lifeline jumped into the Danube, ducked under the trapped foot and pushed aside a stone so that the woman could free herself. She was taken aboard the FF Kritzendorf and taken to hospital for a check-up.
