A hostage-taker held a woman in his power for hours on Tuesday at the famous Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas. The perpetrator had hidden in a room on the 21st floor and thrown furniture out of the window, endangering other hotel guests as well.
American media reported about an argument between the two, as a result of which the man ‘forced’ the woman into a room. After the first furniture flew out of the window of the accommodation and smashed next to the swimming pool, the police were alerted.
After the first contact with the kidnapper, when the man allegedly claimed to be in possession of a weapon, special forces were called in to help. Hotel guests who were at the pool at the time had to get to safety. According to a report from the online edition of “USA Today”, which relies on eyewitness accounts, Casears Palace staff took no major security measures during the operation, which began around 9:30 a.m. (local time) and lasted into the afternoon.
SWAT team stormed room
After failed negotiations with the kidnapper, the police decided to storm the room. Then everything happened quickly. A SWAT team apprehended the suspect. Both he and his hostage were unharmed, according to police. It is not yet known whether the man was actually armed. The motive for the crime or the relationship between the two people is still unclear.
