In 2016, the young woman from Vienna went viral with a beating video and made headlines. The woman again had to answer for herself in court, but this time it was about aggravated robbery, bodily harm and false testimony. The sentence is eight years in prison.
Seven years ago, the now young woman and some acquaintances beat, humiliated and insulted a 15-year-old girl in front of a shopping center in Vienna-Donaustadt. The victim suffered a broken jaw. The attackers filmed the act, the video went viral on Facebook and was viewed more than 4.5 million times and shared tens of thousands of times. Since then, the then 16-year-old violent criminal has had three previous convictions, the last time she received 18 months, partially paid.
Aggravated robbery on 17-year-old
Now it was about a serious robbery of a 17-year-old. The boy was on his way home on April 17, 2022 – the night before Easter Sunday – when three people followed him as he got off the night bus: a young man and two fully veiled women. The man first asked the 17-year-old for a light and then for money, when he also didn’t get it, he was punched in the face, resulting in a displaced broken nose. The women involved took his mobile phone and searched his backpack.
Identified by surveillance camera
Thanks to a video from Wiener Linien’s surveillance cameras, the male suspect could be located – it was the then boyfriend of the now suspect. The 23-year-old now sued his ex-girlfriend as a witness. One of the two completely veiled persons is “one hundred percent free” the perpetrator, the other a friend of the 22-year-old, of whom he only knows the first name.
The 22-year-old denied that: “I wasn’t there.” You can’t even see your eyes there.” So the perpetrator did not confess many facts.
False testimony in case against ex-boyfriend
The other two charges relate to alleged false testimony from the 22-year-old in the proceedings against her ex-boyfriend, in which she allegedly told untruths as a witness, and a young Afghan man who was beaten on June 17. 2022. This would have been annoyed with a group – including the 22-year-old – and received 30 blows. “It was well prepared. He had many wounds, but luckily he was not seriously injured,” the prosecutor said.
Accordingly, the court showed no mercy and sentenced the Viennese woman to 8 years in prison for aggravated robbery and false testimony. After the verdict was announced, she threw up her hands and, after consulting her clerk, asked for time to think it over. The verdict is not final.
