A freakout after the SCR Altach derby against Austria Lustenau cost a 27-year-old fan dearly.
The mood on May 27 at Altach’s Cashpoint Arena was pretty heated, as the home side were all about staying afloat in the Bundesliga. Among the 8,000 spectators were the 27-year-old defendant, a die-hard Altach fan, and the later victim, a student from Lustenau and a self-declared Austrian.
In the stands, the beer is flowing down the throats of the fans, and not just during the match. Even after the game, which ends in 1-1 and saves Altach from relegation, things are still going well. Before the gates of the Cashpoint Arena, the 27-year-old businessman from Vorarlberg initially verbally provoked the student. When he refuses to give him a fan item from Lustenauer Austria, the provocateur completely cringes and throws a plastic cup in the victim’s face. Finally, the student files a complaint against the frenzy.
Fine of 9000 euros
He appeared in court yesterday with his lawyer in tow. “It was a drunken story. A football match with a heated atmosphere. With a slight scratch on the chin, the consequences for the victim were not dramatic,” explains lawyer Manuel Dietrich and asks for an out-of-court settlement. But the prosecutor only reluctantly agrees.
The reason: Zornpinkel had already benefited from a distraction several years ago – also due to physical injury. Judge Thomas Hofer then let the cup thrower do it again and imposed a fine of 9,000 euros. “You have to get yourself together. As an entrepreneur, you also have to make sure that you don’t lose your permit as a result of further criminal offences.”
