After Matteo Messina Denaro, Italy’s most wanted mafioso, was arrested, the police were able to locate the imprisoned boss of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra. The hideout was near the western Sicilian city of Trapani, a stronghold of the Cosa Nostra, and was being searched through the night, the carabinieri said.
The boss’s house, sought after for 30 years, is in Campobello di Mazara. The deputy prosecutor of Palermo, Paolo Guido, who has been investigating the former Cosa Nostra boss for years, was personally present at the search.
The mafioso and Italy’s most wanted criminal was arrested Monday at a private clinic in Palermo, where he was being treated for an intestinal tumor. The mafia boss is accused of at least 50 murders. The 60-year-old allegedly committed the first at age 18.
