Motorboats in action – troops fight for a bridgehead on the Dnipro

Date:

Russian and Ukrainian forces would fight over a small bridgehead and islands in the Dnipro River. According to the Ministry of Defense in London, small, fast motorboats must be deployed on both sides.

“And Ukraine has successfully used tactical single-use unmanned aerial vehicles to destroy some Russian boats,” the British military experts said in a statement. For the Russian troops, the question is whether they will respond to the threat and increase their force. However, this would be at the expense of the already depleted units in Zaporizhia Oblast. These are currently fighting against the Ukrainian counter-offensive.

Some wounded in Odessa
The southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa, important for grain exports, was reportedly the target of Russian attacks on Wednesday night. “We have not seen such a large attack since the start of the large-scale (Russian) invasion,” Odessa Mayor Hennady Truchanov wrote on Facebook on Wednesday. Authorities say at least six people were injured. According to the Ukrainian side, port facilities with a grain and an edible oil terminal were hit. Tanks and loading facilities were also damaged.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy linked the attacks to the end of the grain deal. “Russian terrorists are absolutely deliberately targeting the infrastructure of the Grain Agreement, and every Russian missile is a blow not only to Ukraine, but to everyone in the world who strives for a normal and safe life,” the head of state wrote on Telegram on Wednesday. The army has now been instructed to better protect the port infrastructure.

The Russian side dropped the deal on Monday to ship Ukrainian grain across the Black Sea. However, there were also reports of airstrikes from areas other than Odessa. The Russian Ministry of Defense had announced its intention to retaliate for the damaged bridge to the Crimean peninsula.
