On Wednesday morning, a 60-year-old woman was attacked and injured by a cow on a pasture in Edelschrott (Voitsberg district). The woman from Graz had accompanied a farmer who wanted to put an ear tag on a newborn calf.
Suckler cows are known to have a strong protective instinct if someone gets too close to their offspring. Nevertheless, a 60-year-old woman from Graz wanted to be there on Wednesday morning when a farmer wanted to stick an ear tag on a newborn calf. So the two went to a fenced pasture in western Styrian Edelschrott.
When the farmer (59) wanted to place the ear tag, the nearby mother cow attacked the grazer and pushed the woman to the ground. The farmer called the rescue service and, together with other people, provided first aid.
According to the police, the woman was flown by rescue helicopter to the LKH Graz after the first aid with unknown injuries.
