On Wednesday, a 22-year-old resident took off after his car hit the lane divider on the wet road on the Inntalautobahn in Pettnau (Innsbruck Land district). His car was thrown back onto the roadway, the next motorist slammed into him and ended up in the bushes.
The spectacular accident happened on Wednesday evening around 9.35 pm. There, the 22-year-old drove his car westbound. “The man skidded, probably due to the heavy rainfall, and collided with the lane divider,” the police describe the cause of the accident. He was then thrown back onto the roadway.
Got off the road
A 28-year-old Italian woman following her failed to avoid her car in time and hit the man’s vehicle. Her car left the roadway as a result of the collision and ended up on its side in the bushes.
The woman and her passenger suffered minor injuries. The 22-year-old from Rotterdam was unharmed.
Woman was driving under the influence of alcohol
An alcohol test was administered to both accident drivers. This was positive for the 28-year-old. Her driver’s license was provisionally revoked. Significant material damage was caused to both vehicles.
