On the Großer Trögler in the municipality of Neustift im Stubaital (Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land), a fatal accident in the Alps probably occurred on Thursday afternoon. An athlete fell while descending and succumbed to her serious injuries. Later hikers found the woman, whose identity has not been established.
The crash is said to have occurred around 3 p.m. when the mountaineer descended on the black-marked path from the Großer Trögler in the direction of the Sulzenauhütte. “The woman probably fell about 80 meters over steep terrain, part of which was rocky, for some unknown reason,” the police are trying to reconstruct the course of the accident.
About half an hour later, two hikers found the woman who had died in an accident and made an emergency call. But the emergency doctor of the emergency helicopter was only able to determine the athlete’s death. The corpse was autopsied to clarify its identity.
