An 18-year-old novice driver ended up with his car in the river Weser in the northern German city of Bremen. From there he called his father. Who knew what to do.
The father urged his son to “please exit the vehicle quickly before it sinks permanently,” police said on Friday.
Minor injuries
“The 18-year-old followed the advice, climbed out the window and reached the safe shore.” He suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
No evidence of alcohol or drugs
According to the police, it is still unclear why the novice driver lost control of the wheel on Friday night and drove into the river via an embankment. A police spokeswoman said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs. Divers from the fire department were able to locate the car later. A special company must recover the vehicle with a crane.
