A German tourist fell 15 meters during a bike ride in Hollersbach (Salzburg) on Thursday and was unable to free himself. Luck out of bad luck: a local resident rescued the man with a rope before the mountain rescue and the police arrived.
On Thursday, a 61-year-old German from Hesse went on an e-bike tour to the Hollersbachtal in Pinzgau with friends. The group took a short break at a well at noon. The 61-year-old carelessly took a step too far back and fell some 50 feet over the edge of the trail over steep terrain. Because the German could no longer go alone on the forest path, his friends made an emergency call.
When the mountain rescue service and the Alpine police arrived, a passing farmer had already rescued the victim with a rope. The German was taken to hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries.
