Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that the bridge connecting the Crimean peninsula to Russia would bring “war, not peace” and was therefore a military target.
“This is the route used to deliver munitions to the war and it happens daily. This will militarize the Crimean peninsula,” Zelenskyy said via video link at the Aspen Security Conference in the United States.
Explosions on the Crimean Bridge on Monday killed two civilians and damaged part of the bridge. While Ukraine welcomed the attack, it took no direct responsibility for it.
The Russian Black Sea Fleet exercises with live ammunition
Russia says it has held a naval exercise with live ammunition in the Black Sea after the end of the grain agreement with Ukraine. The Black Sea Fleet fired on and destroyed a target ship with anti-ship missiles in the northwestern sea, the defense ministry said in Moscow on Friday. According to Ukraine, the Russian army has again shelled the port city of Odessa and destroyed silos of barley and peas.
