Although the disruption of “Everyman” went almost unnoticed, it is a success for climate activists. The last generation has announced a sequel.
The loud disturbance at the Friday night premiere of “Jedermann” was seen by many guests as part of the staging and went almost unnoticed. For Bernhard Kogler-Sobl of the last generation, who protested together with his brother Stefan and his girlfriend Erika Goedl, it is still a success. “Our goal would have been to get on the podium,” says the 33-year-old.
With the campaign they want to point out that “it is the richest who cause the most emissions. If someone is overprivileged, it comes with a responsibility,” explains the activist. “I think we got our message across.”
They paid for the trip and the tickets for the premiere of “Jedermann” out of their own pockets and financed them with donations. “Then someone contacted us who wanted to sponsor the tickets for us,” says Kogler-Sobl on the phone. From the office of the last generation, it is said that further protests are “definitely” planned in Salzburg.
