On the Semmering (S6) motorway in the Lower Austrian district of Neunkirchen, two car fires called for the emergency services within a few hours. The occupants, including children, were able to free themselves from the vehicles and were unharmed.
According to the fire service, the two alarms came in shortly before 11:30 a.m. and around 4:30 p.m. The Maria Schutz exit and the entrance to the Gloggnitz Nord car park were hit regionally.
It is still unclear why the two vehicles suddenly caught fire. According to the fire service, the outcome on Monday was relatively mild. The cars were a total loss.
The occupants – including small children in both cases – freed themselves from the vehicle without outside help and were unharmed.
