The focus of the day this year is to raise awareness and get tested for the condition. At a press conference in Vienna, it was emphasized that appropriate antiviral therapy should be started immediately in the event of an infection.

“Hepatitis C is curable”
Widhalm pointed out that viral hepatitis A, B, C, Delta can be treated well in Austria. “Hepatitis C is curable. However, there are no plans yet to test for viral hepatitis at health checkups. That has to change!” demanded the HHÖ chairman. “Anyone can be affected, not just high-risk groups,” she stressed. All affected also have the right “to diagnosis and therapy in order to protect themselves and their families”.
