Focus on swimming courses – WHO is sounding the alarm: Too many people are drowning!

Date:

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), at least 236,000 people drown each year worldwide. The WHO reported on Tuesday that these are preventable deaths. July 25 is now World Anti-Drowning Day. According to the WHO, 90 percent of deaths occur in poorer countries.

According to the WHO, the most effective countermeasures include swimming lessons in primary schools and care for smaller children in daycare centers that provide safety.

By 2050, 774,000 children could be saved from death
If funded in 50 low- and middle-income countries, more than 774,000 children could be saved from death by 2050, the WHO reported.

“Avoid economic loss”
In addition, 178,000 cases in which children survive but are seriously harmed could be prevented. That would prevent about $400 billion in potential economic losses that the children could contribute if they survived and remained healthy and did not incur the costs of lifelong disability care.
