Since Tuesday, a major search has been underway in the Tyrolean Stubaital for a mushroom picker who had never returned home from his trip. The missing person is said to be a 72-year-old resident.
Relatives of the man sounded the alarm on Tuesday evening. A major search was immediately launched, involving the mountain rescue services of Neustift and Vorderes Stubai, dog handlers, fire brigade, Alpine police and a police helicopter.
Search continued after interruption
At 02:00 the operation had to be temporarily suspended without result. An intensive search has been underway for the 72-year-old since 06:00 on Wednesday, a mountain rescuer told the “Krone”. The police confirm that a mushroom picker is being sought in the Stubai Valley.
According to the emergency services, the missing is probably in the area between Ranalt and Tschangelair Alm.
