In Schiedlberg (Upper Austria) – as reported – a large tree fell on a moving car during a storm. The driver survived injured and shocked.
“I stepped on the brakes, but it was no use anymore. It just went too fast. The tree fell on our car, you can’t react that fast!” – Doris H. (40) from Sierning was driving her Hyundai Tucson in Schiedlberg on the L1372 in the direction of Sierning at 10 p.m. on Friday, with her husband (42) sitting in the passenger seat.
Bruises everywhere
Suddenly, the thunderstorm caused a tree 50 centimeters thick and about four meters high to fall onto the road and hit the car near the hood and windshield. The car became trapped under the tree, but Doris H. and her husband managed to free themselves.
She says: “I have bruises and cuts all over my hands because the windshield broke when a branch pierced the glass. He caught me in the chest area.’ She was taken to hospital in Steyr by rescue services.
Happy comprehensive insurance
Her husband was unharmed and the car was a total loss. Fortunately, the driver is fully comprehensively insured.
50 storm missions
In all, there were about 50 storm operations across the country. The districts of Ried im Inkreis and Grieskirchen were hardest hit. There were 25 missions in Aurolzmünster alone.
