Controversial British MP Andrew Bridgen is switching to the far-right party Reclaim. The politician caused a shake of the head with a comparison to the Holocaust and his expulsion from the Tory party.
The party, which was founded in 2020 and campaigned against corona lockdowns with right-wing populist slogans, now has a mandate in parliament for the first time.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Tories expelled Bridgen a few weeks ago after the 58-year-old compared corona vaccinations to the Holocaust.
Bridgen was outraged by the comparison to the Holocaust
“As a consulting cardiologist told me, this is the greatest crime against humanity since the Holocaust,” Bridgen tweeted about the vaccine’s alleged side effects. The Tory leadership around Sunak had criticized the statement as “unacceptable”.
Bridgen, who has represented the North West Leicestershire constituency in the House of Commons in Central England since 2010, has made repeated conspiracy theories, particularly about corona vaccinations, and has been repeatedly reprimanded for doing so. The MP said Reclaim “respects freedom of expression based on every aspect of our democracy and our society.”
