The UN General Assembly holds a special session on the Russian invasion of Ukrainein the week in which the first lustrum is fulfilled.

The head of European diplomacy, Joseph Borrellhas moved to New York with 25 euro zone ministers. Instead of the ambassadors speaking, the European Union has sent 25 ministers who will speak on behalf of their countries to raise political awareness and show a picture of unity (of Europe internally, and also of unity with Ukraine) behind a common goal.

In any case, the session lasts all day longThursdayand it is possible that it will be extended even until Fridaydepending on how many of the 193 members of the UN speak.

The resolution approved by the General Assembly will not be binding, but above all symbolic. Currently, 68 countries have given their approval. The big question is Yes the so-called “western” countries (mainly the EU, USA, Canada, Japan and Australia) reach more than 143 votes that last October condemned in the General Assembly Russian attempts to annex parts of Ukraine after holding four illegal referenda.
