After an argument with his father, an unemployed man from Burgenland completely panicked. The young man beat his father bloody and threatened the whole family with murder.
A 23-year-old had put his father, his brother and his mother in sheer fear of death. An argument with the father in the family home in the south of Burgenland almost ended in a murder. The trained car mechanic now had to answer for the regional court in Eisenstadt. Because after the disagreement between the young man and his senior escalated, the unemployed went crazy.
He grabbed a knife, brandished it in front of his family, and yelled, “I’m going to stab you and shoot you in the head!” Then Samuel E. hit his father so hard on the head that he suffered a bleeding wound and also damaged a window pane. Terrified, the mother and brother called the police, who arrived at the crime scene moments later with blue lights and a horn.
Denied to the police, confessed to the court
Although his parents and brother have made identical statements, E. denied the death threats to the officers and during questioning at the police station. The 23-year-old appeared at his trial with his brother, mother and father – but without a lawyer. “Do you plead guilty or not guilty according to the charges?” asked Mrs. Rat with the necessary sternness at the beginning of the trial.
“Guilty,” the suspect replied, his head bowed and his voice low. “How is your relationship with your parents at the moment?” asked the judge. Again the meek reply was hard to understand: “Good. I’ve talked to them. Everything is fine again.” They confirmed that later. “What should I do with you?” asked Mrs. Rat rhetorically. Because the suspect did not look like a violent criminal at all and is even a volunteer with an aid organization. Although the Public Prosecution Service was against distraction in principle, Mrs. Rat decided to give the unemployed a chance: “If you do 200 hours of community service, the case will be closed and you will not be eligible for a criminal record.” E. Accepted Not final because the prosecutor did not make a statement.
