Driving side by side – anger justified? Cyclists divided the country

Date:

They chatter next to each other, risky overtaking on narrow bike paths and quickly pass pedestrians – racing cyclists regularly cause the ire of other road users. Does it make sense to have a license plate and why are cyclists allowed to ride side by side?

The conflict between motorists and cyclists is as old as the racing bicycle itself. In a study by the KfV (Austrian Road Safety Council), 80 percent of the cyclists surveyed indicate that they have often or sometimes had conflicts with motorists. But nerves are also a bit tense with the latter: every third driver is annoyed by the behavior of cyclists.
