A 29-year-old forest worker was injured in a serious forest accident in Stams (Tyrolean district of Imst) on Thursday morning. A tree had rolled over him.
The 29-year-old was working about 150 meters above Stams/Hauland in the forest when the accident happened. When the worker felled a tree and it fell to the ground as planned, it caused a second previously felled tree to roll across the sloping forest floor. The trunk pushed the 29-year-old over and rolled sideways over him.
Colleagues at work warned
In the accident, the worker was seriously injured in the shoulder and suffered several abrasions. He attracted the attention of his colleagues by shouting loudly and the chain of rescue was set in motion. After first aid, the rescuers took the seriously injured to Zams hospital.
