The dangerous adventure of the two young Zechpreller – 16 and 17 years old – came to an end on Saturday evening. As reported, the two had run over a sushi landlady in Linz after leaving the restaurant without paying. They were arrested at a gas station in Croatia around 4am.
50 euros was the reason for the breakneck escape. Not wanting to pay for their rotating sushi at a restaurant in Linz, the young couple fled the restaurant on Wednesday evening. The 41-year-old landlady ran after the two bouncers – she was run over by the duo and seriously injured.
Graz license plate
The 16-year-old driver and her companion (17) were captured on the property’s security camera. A witness had the crucial tip: the fugitive’s car had a license plate from Graz.
Arrested at gas station
With this information, the detectives wrote the couple out for a manhunt across Europe. They were successful on Saturday evening and were able to apprehend the duo, who fled across the border to Croatia, at a gas station. The prosecutor’s office in Graz is investigating attempted murder. “But it is important to clarify the facts first,” spokesman for the prosecution, Hansjörg Bacher, told the “Krone”.
The Zechpreller are currently still in Croatia. “The European arrest warrant is also an extradition request,” Bacher explains. It is not yet clear when the couple will be transferred to Austria.
