A man extinguished his car with beer after a car fire on the BAB 19 highway in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany. According to the police, the car caught fire on Saturday afternoon due to a technical defect in the engine compartment. The 36-year-old man stopped immediately on the hard shoulder.
As his wife and two children made it to safety, he took his luggage and a case of beer from the trunk and “immediately started the first extinguishers”.
Police: Eight bottles of beer is enough
According to the police, the fire was extinguished after eight bottles of beer. To be on the safe side, the arriving fire service has disconnected the battery from the vehicle and prevented the leakage of environmentally harmful fluids.
The car has been declared a total loss, according to police. However, damage to the road surface of the highway was prevented by quickly extinguishing it with barley juice.
