Once again there was a serious forest accident in Tyrol. This time, a 56-year-old was seriously injured in Zams in the Oberland when he was dragged by a tree. His son (25) alerted the emergency services.
Shortly before noon on Saturday, father and son were working on wood together with a third man (59) in the municipality of Zams (Landeck district) when the accident occurred. The 56-year-old sawed a previously felled tree in half. This caused the log to slip and hit the local man, who was then swept about 20 meters over steep, rocky terrain.
Recovered by helicopter
The 25-year-old son rushed to the seriously injured man, gave him first aid and started the rescue chain. The emergency helicopter team was able to provide first aid to the 56-year-old on the spot, after which the Landeck mountain rescue team helped the helicopter crew to rescue the seriously injured man with a rope.
