Climate-friendly behavior pays off: because the climate bonus goes to all people who have had their main residence in Austria long enough this year. This is the case from 183 days, so at least half a year. Citizenship and age do not matter.
Directly to the account or as a voucher by post
An application is not necessary. Between autumn 2023 and spring 2024, the climate bonus will be transferred directly to your bank account or sent as a voucher by post. If you want to be sure that the climate bonus is credited to your account, you can confirm or update your account details on FinanzOnline until July 10, 2023.
Anyone who already regularly receives money from the state does not have to do anything else. This affects, for example, pensioners and people who receive healthcare allowance or child benefit. If no current bank details are available, you will receive the climate bonus by post in the form of vouchers. To ensure that the vouchers reach you safely, they come with RSa letters.
The amount of the climate surcharge depends on the infrastructure and public transport
The amount of your climate allowance depends on how well you are cared for in your main residence. In principle, everyone receives the basic amount of 110 euros. Depending on where you live, a regional surcharge applies. In total, the climate allowance for 2023 is 110, 150, 185 or 220 euros.
