A tarantula was discovered in the stairwell of an apartment building in Klosterneuburg on Saturday. The creeping animal has been captured and housed in a species-specific manner. Police are currently looking for the owner.
Coincidentally, the finder of the escaped animal was a driver of the Dierenhulp Klosterneuburg. With the help of her brother, the woman was able to catch and secure the spider. The next day, the tarantula was housed species-specifically.
Malnourished and dehydrated
The crawling animal, which is about twelve centimeters long, would have been severely malnourished and dehydrated. But the tarantula never posed an acute threat. Although spiders are generally poisonous, only allergic people react to them.
Police have launched an investigation to find the owner.
Spider Alarm in Supermarket
Last week, a suspected banana spider was sighted by an employee at a supermarket in Krems. As a result, the grocery store was cleaned, disinfected and closed for a few days. However, the spider remains missing to this day.
