Augusto Fernandez and Pol Espargaro, The riders from the Gas Gas team led by Frenchman Hervé Poncharal, are eager to achieve a great performance at the Red Bull Spielberg circuit, home of Austrian GP this Sunday, although the physical condition of one and the other is not the same.
In the case of Augusto Fernández, he assures that he will arrive in Austria with “a lot of desire, because it is a very important test for the Pierer Mobility Group. I really want to do well, after a lot of improvements at Silverstone, because we worked well in every session, especially in qualifying, and then we had two great races,” he said.
“Lap after lap, we are making progress, gaining more and more confidence on the bike, so I am heading to Spielberg wanting to have another great weekend,” he added in the press release of the Fernández team.
The case of Pol Espargaró is different, after returning to competition after being out for five months, since his serious fall in Portugal. “The Red Bull Ring is a special circuit for me and for Pierer Mobility, I like it a lot and I have been able to be fast there in the past. Obviously, now my situation is different and I have to approach the grand prix in a different way way, because I still have to think about getting my feeling back on the bike, mentally and physically. I’m training a lot these days after what I learned at Silverstone, so hopefully things will be easier”, explained Pol.
With his feet on the ground, he emphasizes that he has to “remain calm and understand that there is still a long way to reach a normal state and where the other drivers are after so many races.”
