It had to be a fun descent with one of the most popular fun sports items of the moment: a gravity cart. But instead of a pleasant descent, a 24-year-old on Monday experienced a nightmare in the Montafon in Vorarlberg, who ended up in hospital with serious injuries.
Around 3.15 pm, a 24-year-old alone in the municipality of Schruns drove a gravity cart – also known as a mountain cart – along the Kapellerweg designated as a go-kart track into the valley. About 500 meters after the start at the Kapellbahn, the woman lost control of the fun sports device for reasons that are still unclear.
Gravity cart overturns
As a result, the 24-year-old turned right off the gravel road and fell over a five-meter embankment onto the roadway below. The gravity cart flipped over several times and only came to a stop after more than 120 meters in the bushes.
Helicopter transported to hospital with serious injuries
The woman suffered serious injuries in the accident. After initial on-site treatment, she was flown by emergency medical helicopter “Gallus 1” to the state hospital in Feldkirch for further treatment.
