“Security Gap” – This is how hackers look at casino cards

Date:

No one likes to look at their cards – especially in casinos where poker is played at high stakes. But as hackers demonstrated at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas, the shuffling machine most commonly used in casinos around the world plays “face up cards.”

“The DeckMate shuffler is secure and cannot be compromised,” Los Angeles-based Hustler Live Casino said in an investigative report released late last year following allegations of poker tournament fraud. Eight months later, it turns out that the shuffling machine most commonly used in casinos around the world is not safe after all and can certainly be compromised.
