Severe thunderstorm – state highway in Salzburg closed after mudslide

Date:

A severe thunderstorm triggered firefighting operations on Tuesday evening, especially in Salzburg’s Pinzgau. A mudslide went down the country road in Rauris. The road in the Bucheben area is closed. There is a redirect.

A thunderstorm passed over the Pinzgau on Tuesday evening and caused several operations: especially in Saalfelden, Mittersill, Maria Alm and Rauris. There, a mudslide keeps emergency services busy.

“The provincial road is blocked in that area. But no one was injured,” emphasizes the local commander in a telephone conversation. A redirect has already been set up. So far there is no information about further damage.

Only last Saturday a thunderstorm raged over the city of Salzburg. Within a few minutes the sky darkened: high winds and torrential downpours raged over the city. The effects were devastating.
