The firefighters in Mondsee-Land (Upper Austria) will probably talk about this stormy night for a long time to come: in Buchenort a bar had to be evacuated and 40 guests had to be brought to safety due to a landslide. In Oberwang, lightning struck a local emergency yard during operations due to flooding.
“The heavy rains led to several floods, mudslides and landslides in the Buchenort and Unterach area. The emergency services of the Buchenort and Unterach fire brigade were busy for hours. Due to a landslide, about 40 guests of a restaurant in Buchenort had to be evacuated,” reports the Mondsee fire brigade.
The road will remain closed until further notice
The drone group was tasked at night with the Oberwanger drone to reconnoitre the landslide from the air with searchlights. The road to the Druckerhof will remain closed until further notice.
Only the roof was damaged
During the flood operation, lightning struck an inn in the center of Oberwang. The Oberwang and Oberaschau fire brigade went out and checked the affected area of the roof structure. A check showed that there had been no fire, only the roof had suffered damage in the area where the lightning struck.
