Terrible accident Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean Patsch (Innsbruck-Land district): A 39-year-old resident came off a dirt road with his tractor, after which the agricultural vehicle fell over steep terrain. The driver and a passenger (65) were thrown from the vehicle. The first was trapped under the tractor. There was also a dog on board.
The serious accident happened around 6 p.m. in the vicinity of Rinnerhöfe. The 39-year-old Tyrolean was driving the tractor on a dirt road when the tractor suddenly veered off the path, slipped and eventually fell over a 40-degree embankment. Also on board were a 65-year-old woman and a dog.
Passengers thrown from driver’s cab
Both the driver and the woman were thrown from the taxi. The man got stuck between the tractor and the ground, the woman came to a stop on the dike,’ the police said. The 39-year-old eventually managed to make an emergency call.
Driver freed by firefighters
The seriously injured were then freed by the alarmed fire brigade and then flown by emergency helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck. The 65-year-old also sustained injuries – she was taken to hospital in Hall. Police cannot say if the dog was injured.
The tractor was eventually made safe by the fire brigade and driven onto the forest path. He was badly damaged.
