Early traffic in the Lower Vorarlberg Rhine Valley is almost completely at a standstill. Blame it: A truck carrying fruit had hit a road sign on the construction site between the Dornbirn Nord and Dornbirn Süd exits, partially blocking both directions of travel.
A truck carrying fruit crashed into an overhead signpost shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to initial information. Parts of it then fell on the road.
The result:
The Rheintal Autobahn (A14) had to be completely closed in both directions for about an hour. Cars can now be guided through the accident scene. Trucks must avoid the L190.
Traffic congestion during the morning rush hour was enormous. Sometimes there was a traffic jam of more than five kilometers. The A14 has only been open to traffic without restrictions until the beginning of the afternoon.
