The fact that many streets in Vienna can only be crossed safely by fit young pedestrians during the green phase has led to criticism. The city does not want to leave that alone. Pedestrian Commissioner Petra Jens is convinced that walking in Vienna is becoming more and more pleasant.
The VCÖ recently complained that when switching traffic lights for pedestrians in Vienna, seniors and other people who walk slowly are not taken into account. The municipal pedestrian does not react badly to this, on the contrary: she applauds it when the importance of walking is recognized and discussed, says Jens to the “Krone”. The city is constantly changing traffic light circuits – especially in the case of concrete complaints to the mobility office.
